Could you be the next Traitor? Applications open for hit show filmed at Slane Castle

Could you keep a secret at Slane Castle?

Applications are now open for the third series of RTÉ's The Traitors Ireland, giving hopeful contestants the chance to enter the world of deception, strategy and suspicion at the iconic castle which has become synonymous with the hit show.

RTÉ confirmed this week that the series will return for a third season following the dramatic conclusion of series two, with applications now open for those hoping to take part.

And for local viewers, the prospect of another group of Faithfuls and Traitors descending on Slane Castle will be particularly familiar.

The Meath Chronicle was first to reveal last year that the Irish version of the hit reality series was being filmed at the Castle, before getting a behind-the-scenes look at the production during series two.

During our visit to the set earlier this year, producer Darren Smith of Kite Entertainment revealed just how close The Traitors Ireland came to being filmed somewhere else — with Slane only secured a matter of days before filming was due to begin.

The castle and its surrounding estate have since become a defining part of the Irish series.

The sprawling grounds provide space for the show's increasingly elaborate missions, while the castle itself provides the gothic backdrop for the famous Round Table and the secret meetings of the Traitors.

Host Siobhán McSweeney also told the Meath Chronicle during our set visit that she loved Slane Castle, while praising the wider area and the additional locations used during the second series.

Now, a new group of hopeful contestants has the opportunity to become part of it.

According to the casting information, applicants must be aged 18 or over, have the legal right to reside in Ireland and be available for up to four weeks, with filming currently expected to take place in March or April 2027.

Those hoping to make it through the casting process are asked to submit a one-minute video introducing themselves, explaining why they want to take part and outlining their potential game plan.

Applications are currently expected to close on March 15, 2027, although the deadline may be subject to change.

The official casting information asks would-be contestants to consider whether they have what it takes to enter a game where trust can be a dangerous thing and where even the most innocent-looking player could secretly be working against the group.

For anyone locally who has watched the drama unfold against the backdrop of Slane Castle, there is now the chance to swap the sofa for the castle itself.

And after two series of alliances, betrayals and dramatic banishments, the question is simple:
