Conflict for Byrne as Moylagh bid to bounce back
In the JFC, former Meath star Peadar Byrne has a big weekend ahead of him as his side Moylagh take on his native club Ballinlough. While in the Junior B FC the blockbuster clash is between Moynalty and Kilmainhamwood.
JFC - GROUP A
Slane v St Ultan's: Slane battled their way to victory over Syddan in round one and they will probably be all the better for that performance when they take on St Ultan’s in Gibbstown on Thursday at 7.30pm. Prediction: Slane.
Syddan v Dunderry: Dunderry are a talented side at this level and their round one performance is probably not reflective of what they are capable of. They have what it takes to get back on track against Syddan in Carlanstown on Friday at 7.30pm. Prediction: Dunderry.
GROUP B
Curraha v St Brigid’s: It is hard to believe that less than five years ago Curraha were a relatively comfortable senior outfit while St Brigid’s were still a Junior B side. The pair meet in Kilmainham on Friday at 7.30pm and Gavin Coyle’s side are expected to take the spoils. Prediction: Curraha.
Carnaross v St Vincent’s: After their titanic battle with Curraha, St Vincent’s and their very promising midfielder Michael McIvor should have enough to see off Carnaross in Bective on Saturday at 3pm. Prediction: St Vincent’s.
GROUP C
St Mary’s v Nobber: Nobber got their JFC campaign off to a winning start over Moylagh in round one and a repeat of that performance would be good enough to seal victory over St Mary’s in Syddan on Thursday at 7.30pm. Prediction: Nobber.
Moylagh v Ballinlough: The contest that will be dubbed the Peadar Byrne Derby between Moylagh and Ballinlough in Millbrook on Friday at 7.30pm will have a certain edge to it. Byrne’s Moylagh may suffer their second straight defeat against his native club. Prediction: Ballinlough.
JUNIOR B FC
Eastern Gaels v Clonard: Clonard will be expected to put away Eastern Gaels with relative ease on Thursday at Devenish Park at 3pm. Prediction: Clonard.
Boardsmill v Cortown: Cortown can make it two from two in the Junior B FC with a win over Boardsmill in Athboy on Saturday at 5pm. Prediction: Cortown.
Moynalty v Kilmainhamwood: Two of the pre-championship favourites for the Junior B FC meet this Friday in Drumconrath at 7.30pm. Moynalty are slightly favoured to bounce back from a defeat in round one. Prediction: Moynalty.
Kilmainham v Dunmconrath: Kilmainham should have enough in hand to get the better of Drumconrath in Nobber on Saturday at 3pm. Prediction: Kilmainham.
