Investigation underway after discovery of body at Wheatfield Prison

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a male (in his 30s) on Thursday 13th of August 2026 in Wheatfield Prison, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the male.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased. The services of the Garda National Technical Bureau have been requested.

The Coroner’s Office has been notified. Investigating Gardaí await the results of a post-mortem to determine the direction of the investigation.
