Two gardaí treated in hospital after collision with stolen car

Meath South Community Engagement gardaí were involved in a managed containment operation in north county Dublin on Monday.

Gardaí commenced an investigation following an incident of burglary and the unauthorised taking of an car in the Santry area on 10th August 2026.

On the evening of Monday 11th August 2026 shortly before midnight, gardaí from DMR West Roads Policing Unit, and Blanchardstown and Meath South Community Engagement, were involved in a related managed containment operation at the Ward, Dublin 11.

During the course of the operation, the stolen car collided with a marked patrol vehicle. The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled on foot. Two members of An Garda Síochána exited the vehicle and received assistance. Both were conveyed to hospital for treatment.

Both members of An Garda Síochána have since been released from hospital.

An Garda Síochána continues to provide welfare support to the members as they recuperate, and to their families.
