Woman cyclist (80s) injured after being struck by lorry has died
A female cyclist aged in her 80s has died from her injuries after she was struck by a lorry while riding her bike on the R414 (Rathangan Road) at Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, on Monday 10th August 2026.
Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 9.50am.
The woman was conveyed to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin, for treatment of serious injuries. She has since been pronounced deceased yesterday, Monday 10th August 2026.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The road has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who were travelling in the area of the R414 (Rathangan Road) – known locally as "Cow Pastures” - at Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, on Monday 10th August 2026 between 9:15am and 10.15am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
