Skryne hitting off the bat in All-Ireland bid
Skryne Rounders have built quite the reputation in recent years, claiming the Men's and Mixed All-Ireland Intermediate titles in 2021, while the Ladies narrowly missed out with back-to-back All-Ireland Intermediate runner-up finishes in 2020 and 2021.
It was also in 2021 that the Junior team first took to the field—and what a journey it has been since.
Fast forward to 2026, and captain Noeleen Greally has assembled a squad that's the perfect blend of experience and fresh enthusiasm.
The seasoned heads of Brenda Greally and Karen Carolan have been leading by example, while newcomers Deirdre Mullens, Katie Boland, Sharon McMahon and Leesa Flynn have slotted in seamlessly.
The outfield has been expertly marshalled by the formidable mother-and-daughter duo of Karen Lynch and Hazel Lynch-Costello, while Lauren Smith has made the short stop position her own, with very little getting past her glove.
In the pitching circle, Patricia Thorpe has kept batters guessing all season, delivering with composure and consistency when the team has needed her most.
At the plate, Caoimhe McKenna and Karen Keville have been producing some terrific hits, while Zita Harris quite literally knocked it out of the park with a home run that had teammates and supporters celebrating in style.
With talent, teamwork, and plenty of laughs along the way, this Junior side is proving that the future of the club is in very safe hands—and they're only getting started.
The team began the All-Ireland League campaign with a 17 (4)–16 (5) victory over neighbours Nobber. Skryne held the upper hand throughout and, in many of their games this season, finished with bats in hand, highlighting the strength and depth of their batting line-up.
The team then welcomed Clonguish and produced an outstanding display, dominating the game to record a comprehensive 31 (3) to 10 (5) victory, once again finishing with bats in hand.
The winning run continued with another impressive performance against Inniskeen. Despite the wet conditions, the rain did little to dampen Skryne's spirits as they secured another valuable win, maintaining their excellent form.
Next up were rivals Carrickmacross Emmets. Skryne once again displayed their skills, producing a tremendous performance to limit Carrickmacross to just a single score, finishing with an emphatic 7(4) to 1(5) victory.
The unbeaten run came to an end in difficult conditions in Roscommon, where Kilmore excelled in the rain to claim a 28 (4) to 8 (5) win, but the Meath side responded in style in their final league fixture, finishing the league on a high with an impressive 18 (3) to 6 (5) victory over Drumhowan Geraldines.
A consistently strong league campaign saw Skryne finish in an excellent second place overall, with a number of dominant performances and several victories achieved while still having bats in hand. They now look ahead to an exciting All-Ireland Rounders League quarter-final, where they will face Leighlinbridge of Carlow for a place in the semi-finals.
