Special 'Chant in the Chapel' event to be staged in Navan

A special and highly distinctive acoustic live music event will take place in St Mary's Church of Ireland, Church Hill, Navan on Saturday 26th April, 7.30pm.

The event is the inaugural concert in the new recital series Chant in the Chapel which, the organisers say, "aims to fill beautiful spaces with beautiful music."

The performers are the members of the Meath-based ensemble Schola Hyberniae (director Dr Giovanna Feeley) with special guests Éire Guitar Duo.

St Mary's Church of Ireland in Navan is highly regarded as a splendid setting for music, with an acoustic and architecture made for beauty, and this event will be an evocative and powerful presentation of music for Easter and for Marian feasts.

Schola Hyberniae is a female vocal ensemble specialising in chant and early polyphony. They have performed at music festivals nationally, including the Carrick-on-Shannon Water Music Festival, Music in Kilkenny Series, and National Heritage Week.

Their singing has been featured on Lyric FM broadcasts and in the National Museum of Ireland. Last summer saw them embark on their first international singing tour in northern Italy.

Recently, they performed two sell-out shows in St Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin, at the Bram Stoker Festival. They are in high demand for concerts, workshops, and events throughout the year. The group currently consists of eight singers, and director Dr Giovanna Feeley.
