A Wonderful Journey... Trim Educate Together celebrates 10 years

Trim Educate Together National School marked a significant milestone in Knightsbrook Hotel last Thursday as the school celebrated its 10th anniversary with a variety show, bringing together past and present pupils, staff and the wider school community.

The night was filled with singing, dancing and acting with all the students from junior infants to sixth class participating. The students sang songs from movies like 'Moana' and 'Mamma Mia' to monologues from the movies 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' and 'The Lion King'.

The show ended on a high with every student in the school singing the song 'We are the World' to the 400 guests who were present on the night.

The students and staff put a huge amount of work in to preparing for the show and this was seen and enjoyed by all the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who were present.

One parent commented that there was a great sense of joy in seeing the students performing together and all the work that staff put in to prepare for the show was greatly appreciated.

Principal David Earley said: “Ten years ago, Trim Educate Together was founded with a vision to create a supportive environment where every child could grow, learn, and explore their full range of abilities and opportunities. From those early days in the Glebe with Karen and Marie, and just 17 students, to now having over 190 students in the Maudlins, it has been a wonderful journey.

"We had a great celebration in Knightsbrook Hotel with a night of music, dance, and drama. Well done to all the students and staff for putting on such a great variety show.

We are looking forward to the next ten years—and all the possibilities ahead for Trim ETNS”.

Cllr Joe Fox, Chairperson of the Board of Management said he was delighted and honoured to be chairperson of the Board of Management of Trim Educate Together school.

Cllr Fox has been on the board of management since the school started in 2014 and has been part of the school’s journey as it has grown from 17 students to over 190 today.

He said he looking forward to the coming years when Trim Educate Together NS will hopefully have its permanent home and congratulated the students and staff for their wonderful variety show.

Trim Educate Together opened ten years ago in the clubhouse of the former Glebe Golf Course on the Kildalkey Road just outside Trim with just 17 students.

The first principal was Karen Reilly who oversaw the transition to its current location in the former TIDE building at Maudlins in 2019. The building is a temporary home for the school until the Department of Education progresses plans for a permanent site.
