Well-known biker dies in workplace accident in Navan

Slane man Killian Galligan, well-known for his past motorbike racing and current cycling club involvements, died in a workplace accident in Navan on Friday.

It is understood that he was working at a telecommunications mast on a site at the Proudstown Road when it collapsed.

The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed it is investigating the death.

Extension to Dunshaughlin filling station approved

Plans for an extension to the Circle K Service Station at Ballymurphy, Dunshaughlin, which were refused planning permission by Meath Co Council, have been given the go-ahead by an Bord Pleanala.

Circle K Ireland Retail Ltd sought permission for an extension of 83sqm to the existing service station amenity building to facilitate a revised internal layout resulting in a net retail floor area of 86sqm and an overall floor area of 195sqm, including 15 new car parking spaces.

Mrs Brown's Boys star Fiona O'Carroll is to be the MC of this year's Ashbourne St Patrick's Day Parade.

Fiona has been a cast member of Mrs Brown's Boys portraying Maria Brown since the show started in 2011.

Anger over school building delivery delay in Dunshaughlin

Frustration over the slow pace of progress in delivering the permanent school building for Dunshaughlin Community National School has prompted the school's parents association to hold a public meeting next Wednesday, 20th March.

Parents have also hit out at the lack of communication on the building project, saying the last update they received from the Department of Education was over a year ago in January 2023.

Meath Landowners are to be offered ‘hassle-free’ support to create more space for nature on their land.

The Hare’s Corner, an innovative biodiversity initiative coordinated by the Burren-based landscape charity Burrenbeo Trust, is being rolled out this year to landowners in Meath in conjunction with Meath County Council.
