Extension to Dunshaughlin filling station approved

Plans for an extension to the Circle K Service Station at Ballymurphy, Dunshaughlin, which were refused planning permission by Meath Co Council, have been given the go-ahead by an Bord Pleanala.

Circle K Ireland Retail Ltd sought permission for an extension of 83sqm to the existing service station amenity building to facilitate a revised internal layout resulting in a net retail floor area of 86sqm and an overall floor area of 195sqm, including 15 new car parking spaces.

Meath Co Council had concerns over the adequacy of the hydrological assessment in relation to discharge of car wash effluent.

A first party appeal was lodged with an Bord Pleanala by the applicant against the refusal of planning permission.

The car wash element was omitted from the plans and after considering the appeal, an Bord Pleanala granted permission subject to conditions.

In its decision, the board stated: “Having regard to the established existing development on the site it is considered that subject to the conditions... the proposed development would be on accordance with the proper planning and development of the area.”
