Age-friendly housing development for Athboy

Construction is due to begin next month on 28 age-friendly social housing homes in Athboy.

The housing scheme is for adults aged 55 years and over and will consist of one-bed, two-bed and three-bed single-storey houses, apartments as well as two-storey homes.

Cllr Mike Bray, Leas Cathaoirleach of Meath Co Council, and Chief Executive Jackie Maguire were present for the signing of the contracts with Cunningham Contracts Ire Ltd for the development of the homes at the old convent grounds on the Kildalkey road in Athboy.

“This housing project will be a wonderful development for the Athboy area, and I look forward to seeing works starting on the site in the next few weeks," said Cllr Bray.

“This site is ideally located for age-friendly homes as it is right beside the community centre and a short distance from the town centre, the medical centre, the church, and the proposed new bus stop.

“The contractor and the council plan to have the works completed within 12 months and begin allocations as soon as possible after the houses are built.
