The Intel Mini Scientist competition gives primary school pupils the opportunity to explore science and technology through project based learning and exhibitions. St Stephen's NS have been taking part in the competition for many years. It challenges our pupils to examine the world as scientists, encouraging the development of critical thinking, analytical skills, collaboration and team work.

"We were delighted this year that one of our sixth class projects reached the All-Ireland Grand Final. The project, 'One Step Ahead', focused on creating renewable electricity from everyday tasks," said Acting Principal Aine Madden.

"When news reached the school that the project had been awarded the prize for 'Most Innovative Idea', the entire school community were elated. We were delighted for our two sixth class girls and their teacher Mr Donnellan. Our future is in safe hands with this calibre of scientific work being produced by such young pupils."
