Garth Brooks ticket scam victim warns others to be aware of online fraudsters

A country music fan who was scammed out of hundreds of euros for Garth Brooks tickets has warned others to beware of online fraudsters.

The Athboy woman who asked not to be named says she was thrilled when thought she had secured four coveted tickets for the country star's final two concerts in Croke Park next weekend costing €230 but was left distraught when she realised she had been ripped off. She added:

"I was looking for Garth Brooks tickets last night and what I didn't know was a scammer said she had four tickets, she took the money from my account but she hasn't come up with the tickets. She says she has refunded the money but she hasn't.

"Because I paid through paypal, through the friends and family option , I'm not covered. I'm disputing it with my bank at the minute so hopefully I will get my money back."

The disappointed music lover now wants to make others aware of the scam.

"I'd just like to make people aware because there are so many people looking for tickets out there. I should have thought twice. She tried to get another 230 euros from me saying she had refunded me and then sent me another email address to send her more money. But I copped on when it was too late to be honest.

"I'm so annoyed. I'd just advise anyone looking to buy tickets online to ensure it is a genuine seller and not to pay through the friends and family option on Paypal as Paypal cannot trace it back. "

If that wasn't bad enough, when a friend of the woman put a facebook post up highlighting her pal's misfortune, scammers flocked with offers of more "tickets."

"A friend of mine put up a post there saying I had been scammed and I see there are around six scammers underneath it already straight away offering tickets for sale.

"It's unbelievable the amount of them that are out there. A guy I was talking to in Paypal said they are professionals, people need to be aware."
