Dunboyne boxers’ success is celebrated

Girls champions, Ruby Hynes, Ella Thompson, Tegan Farrelly and Shauna Crehan.Dunboyne Amateur Boxing Club was amongst the community groups and individuals honoured by Meath County Council in a recent civic reception, nominated by Cllr Damien O'Reilly.
The club is bursting with members every night from the age of eight upwards - the adrenaline and energy in the gym is palpable.
Shane Poleon, Head Coach said: "So far this year, we have nine Leinster Champions and six All Ireland champions, a testament to how hard our members train and prepare. We could not be prouder of all our members, who train hard every night, with real effort, skill and determination. But it's not all about the training or the fights. It's about seeing the young people grow and develop into confident young adults - committed, fearless, strong and independent."
Dunboyne Amateur Boxing Club has eight boxers fighting in the cadets. The club trains five nights a week and at the weekends.
