Boardsmill return to senior in style

Pristine Killyon was primed for SHC action for the first time in many years tonight and while the pitch was of the highest quality the contest proved to be disappointing as Boardsmill cruised to a 4-14 to 0-9 victory over Longwood.

The tie was effectively determined in a seven-minute spell in the opening quarter as Boardsmill bagged three goals from Niall Durkan, Neil McLoughlin and Niall Bagnall to open up a 3-2 to 0-2 lead and from then on they were in cruise control.

Longwood were creators of their own malaise as they squandered several decent opportunities with wayward shooting and their reluctance to let the ball into their full-forward line limited their goal chances.

In contrast Boardsmill were tidy, efficient and pacy moving forward and were defensively sound behind a hard working midfield which was controlled by the excellent Ray Hatton.

With Jim Roche marshalling the defence from centre-back and Neil McLoughlin unerring in his shooting Boardsmill used their superior platform to build this victory.
