Tobin seeks answers over planned Ashbourne housing development

Meath County Council Director of Services for Housing, Community and Cultural Development Barry Lynch has told Fine Gael Cllr Alan Tobin that in relation to a housing development in Ashbourne the council was going through the government department’s four-stage process and was just awaiting approval to award the tender.

It is now at the final stage before the builder goes on site, he said. The Castle Street Ashbourne development was going to be an “approved body” project and this was going through the application process.

Separately, Fianna Fail Cllr Wayne Harding was told that a housing project in Donore had been delayed somewhat by “supply chain and other issues” .

Contractors were experiencing fall out from price increases. That project was expected to be delivered in the current year, Mr Lynch said.

In relation to the council’s call-out for land for house building, he said that the priority was to try to get zoned land. They were following up a number of sites around the county at the moment, he said.
