Kingspan joins GOAL in five-year partnership

The total value of the five year commitment is €1.5 million

International humanitarian response agency GOAL today announces the beginning of a five-year partnership with Cavan-headquartered Kingspan Group.

Kingspan Group, the global leader in advanced insulation and building solutions, will support GOAL’s work by providing expertise and products, supported by financial contributions to develop critical infrastructure with sustainability at its core in healthcare and education.

The total value of the five year commitment is €1.5 million.

The partnership is the flagship project in Kingspan’s new Planet Passionate Communities programme, which supports projects that provide services for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities while using resources in the most sustainable way possible.

GOAL was founded in 1977 and is headquarter in Dublin, and in the first year of the partnership, the chairty will join forces with Kingspan to build a new wing at an important hospital in Puerto Cortes, Honduras.

The project will be implemented by GOAL’s humanitarian support staff on the ground using Kingspan’s sustainable products and systems to build a state-of-the-art, 24-bed ward for general care in the hospital.

The new extension will provide the hospital with increased capacity to provide critical care for patients in a community that has been greatly affected by Covid-19.

The new wing will be named in memory of Sayri Molina, a GOAL employee who sadly lost her life to the pandemic and will be remembered for her hard work and selfless commitment to GOAL.

Siobhan Walsh, GOAL CEO, said: “We see in Kingspan a shared understanding of the need for innovation in finding sustainable solutions. For GOAL that means supporting vulnerable communities to build resilience against the impacts of climate change, while addressing their critical health needs. We are grateful to Kingspan and look forward to forming a partnership to create lasting change.”

Bianca Wong, Kingspan’s Global Head of Sustainability, added: “We are proud to be partnering with GOAL, whose values and mission are so closely aligned with our own. We look forward to working with their team to build more sustainable education and healthcare facilities for those who need them most.”

On a local level, businesses across Kingspan Group will allocate resources to support projects in their communities that are aligned with the Planet Passionate ambition of creating a world that is powered by renewable energy, net-zero carbon, manages water sustainably, and protects the earth’s valuable resources by reducing, re-using and recycling.

At the core of Kingspan Group’s Planet Passionate Communities initiative is the ambition to create a positive legacy and a better world.

Kingspan’s Chief Executive Gene Murtagh said of the initiative: “As an international business, our local legacy has global reach. We are determined to use our expertise to create positive impacts for people and communities around the world, and to advance the sustainability agenda for all.”
