Simonstown take first Feis Cup crown

Sean Tobin's first-half hat-trick proved to be the difference as Simonstown coasted to the Feis Cup title with a 3-8 to 0-8 victory over Wolfe Tones in Pairc Tailteann this evening.

Victory is some compensation for the 10-point reversal Simonstown suffered when the sides met in the SFC earlier in the summer, and the win will also give Colm O'Rourke's side a major boost ahead of their SFC relegation battle.

The contest was effectively settled inside 22 minutes as captain Sean Tobin tormented the Wolfe Tones rearguard with his hat-trick of goals boosting Simonstown to a 3-4 to 0-1 lead.

Wolfe Tones did hit three of the first four scores of the second period to give themselves false hope when they closed to 0-5 to 3-6, but the goal they craved never came as Simonstown comfortably held on.
