Gardaí target organised crime gangs in Cavan

The searches in the Bailieborough area were aimed at tackling the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Bailieborough area

In the latest crackdown targeting organised crime gangs operating in the local region, gardaí accompanied by sniffer dog and armed support units searched a number of properties in East Cavan.

“Investigations are continuing,” said a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana, adding that due to “operational reasons” no further information is available on the raids in the Bailieborough area.

Gardai attached Bailieborough Garda Station, accompanied by the Cavan/Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit, the National Dog Unit and the Regional Armed Support Unit, were involved in the searches carried out yesterday morning, Tuesday, September 14.

“The searches were targeted against organised crime gangs operating in East Cavan believed to be involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the area,” gardaí subsequently posted on social media.
