Goals put Reilly's men on road to victory
After a relatively close opening half Dunboyne found an extra gear to go on and and comprehensively defeat Clann na nGael 3-19 to 1-11 in the SHC at Pairc Tailteann last evening.
Paul Reilly's side were much the stronger side after the interval as they steadily piled on the pain for a Clann na nGael outfit who struggled briefly led in the opening half before they were submerged by an avalanche of scores from their opponents.
Both sides ended the game a man short with Dunboyne's Adam O'Connor and Clann na nGael's Callum O'Sullivan red-carded after 54 minutes.
Dunboyne were powered by a number of outstanding displays and right up there was Darragh Gilmartin who finished with a very impressive 1-4 from play while Sean Quigley hit eight points, six frees.
Niall Smyth and Jack Cox also found the net for Dunboyne who led 1-9 to 1-6 at the interval. Both Smyth and Cox also contributed points with the ageless Neil Hackett another to fire over.
O'Sullivan was Clann na nGael's outstanding performer and he capped an all-action display with eight points, four frees. His dismissal was a massive blow for the Clanns-men.
Eamon O Donnchadha scored their goal but they really struggled to make an impact against a fired-up Dunboyne outfit.
