Coyle suffers blow to Olympic dreams

Natalya Coyle's Olympic gold medal dreams lie in tatters following a disastrous round in the show jumping discipline of the Modern Pentathlon at Tokyo this morning.

Tara AC athlete Coyle was in fourth place heading into the show jumping, but the luck of the draw saw her paired with a horse called Constantine.

Coyle steadied the tricky horse brilliantly early on and looked to be moving well, but after a couple of refusals the Meath athlete picked up 64 faults and dropped to 19th position ahead of the laser run which starts at 11.25am.

Coyle will start that run 64 seconds behind the gold medal position.
