Trainer Tom Gibney on the mark at Galway today

Meath winners on dramatic day at Galway

Plenty of drama at Galway today with the wrong horse running and winning the second race and subsequently disqualified.

It was an error that saw the incorrect Jessica Harrington-trained horse sent out to run in the race.

The matter was referred to the IHRB for a more detailed enquiry.

However, Meath trainers were on the mark with Sheila Lavery, Matthew Smith and Tom Gibney all visiting the winners' enclosure as well as champion jockey Colin Keane and former champion jockey Declan McDonogh.

Keane won the opener with the Dermot Weld-trained Emilie Gray which romped home in the seven-furlong maiden.

The Weld runner travelled in third for Colin Keane and hit the front approaching the home straight.

The Lavery-trained Moddy Poddle got the better of the favourite Baseman in a handicap for three-year-olds.

Gary Carroll partnered the Gibney-trained Imposing Supreme to victory and the winner could run again later this week at Ballybrit.

The Gibney-trained horse is now two wins from two runs at Galway after winning for Gary Carroll there in 2019.

Declan McDonogh took the last race with the Matthew Smith-trained No Thanks which had run yesterday finishing third.

"He had a tough race yesterday, he's tough and genuine,” said trainer Matthew Smith.
