Freewheelin a possibility for Aintree next year

Irish Grand National winner Freewheelin Dylan could be heading to Aintree in 12 months time for the Aintree Grand National.

The nine-year-old was appropriately priced yesterday at 150/1 as the Dermot McLoughlin-trained runner landed the 150th Irish Grand National in fine style.

It has now emerged that the trainer is planning for a run at Aintree in 12 months time when Freewheelin Dylan will be 10.

The Ratoath trainer had a runner in the race at Liverpool in 2016 when the then 13-year-old Vics Canvas finished third to the Gigginstown-owned Rule The World.

Vics Canvas was in contention jumping the last that day at Antree and was returned at 100/1.
