Christmas 2020 stamps highlight importance of keeping communities connected

The stamps show some new traditions that have become part of ‘living with Covid’

An Post has issued its new Christmas stamp collection for 2020. The six stamps, illustrated by Liz Rackard and designed by Detail Design Studio, show the importance of keeping people and communities connected while staying apart this year.

The stamps show some new traditions that have become part of ‘living with Covid’ including home baking with the family, online calls with family and friends and a postperson checking in with an older customer, as well as an angel and a traditional nativity scene.

As people prepare their Christmas cards and parcels much earlier this year to allow for Covid-related delays and huge volumes of mail, demand is already strong across post offices and anpost.com/shop for this year’s colourful Christmas booklet of 20 stamps (€19 with one free stamp) and a handy booklet of five international Christmas Stamps priced €8.50 (5 x €1.70). There’s also a bundle offer with a special price of €26 when you buy both together. A €5 booklet of five national stamps is also available.

Julie Gill, Marketing Director of An Post Mails & Parcels says: “Christmas will be very different for everyone this year and a personal greeting to family and friends will mean more than ever before. Our advice is to send early to ensure your present or card gets there in time for Christmas. This is especially the case when mailing abroad so post early.”

An Post’s Christmas TV ad also airs this weekend with a festive feel-good theme entitled ‘Make a Memory with An Post’.

Monday 7th December is the latest date for posting parcels and letters by standard service to the US, Canada, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and 12th December for European destinations (17th for cards) An Post advises customers to get posting as early as possible given Covid restrictions, heavy mail volumes and uncertain weather conditions across the world.

Christmas Stamp Booklets and pre-paid gift packaging are available in all Post Offices nationwide and online at www.anpost.com/Christmas
