CAMOGIE: Meath women set for Saturday test in Kerry

Meath will be aiming to negotiate Kerry in the first round of the All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship at Lixnaw on Saturday, 2pm.

The re-structured competition has taken on the same format as the Christy Ring Cup with all first round losers getting a second chance.

Kildare, Derry and Carlow all lost in the first round and they will be joined by the loser of Saturday's Kerry v Meath game in a play-off on to get bak into the competition at the quarter-final stage.

The first round winners - Laois, Down and Antrim will also play two second round ties with the fourth team either Meath of Kerry (winner of that game) for two semi-final places.

The losers of that second round will play the winners of the first losers group for the remaining two semi-final places.

Meath go into Saturday's game against Kerry with three wins in the League Div 2 to their credit before the competition was cancelled in March. Meath beat Westmeath, Kildare and Kilkenny.

The Kerry women were also in Div 2 and they lost to Galway, Down and Wexford.
