Fine Gael councillor Sharon Tolan has hit out at litter louts for dumping rubbish at recycling banks in Laytown.

Banks at the seaside village were said to be overwhelmed yet again however bags of rubbish containing items unsuitable for recycling were also dumped nearby.

Councillor Tolan has appealed for anyone with information on the illegal dumping to come forward. She said:

"Our Litter Warden was out first thing this morning to clear the area. Unfortunately the individual that illegally dumped their household waste and paint pots etc was devious enough to remove anything that could identify them."
