Thurles winner for Gordon Elliott today.

The Boss wins for Noel and Valerie Moran

Trainer Gordon Elliott gave Navan businessman Noel Moran and his wife Valerie something to smile about with a bumper winner first time out at Thurles today.

Placed twices in point-to-points The Bosses Oscar, purchased at the August Sale (Goffs UK) for £75,000 made a winning start in the Munster INH Flat Race at the Tipperary track.

Jamie Codd was on board and the well-backed favourite duly obliged at the expense of the Noel Meade-trained Bombay BLue which was finishing second for the second time in a month.

Purchased last August by the trainer and bloodstock agent Aidan O’Ryan, The Bosses Oscar won by four and a half lengths.

"He is owned by the yard sponsor and they have invested in a few nice horses so it's nice to get them a few winners," said Elliott who indicated that a maiden hurdle would be the next target.

The Moran's have another possible bumper runner for Galway on Saturday when  impressive point-to-point winner in Broughshane last May Fakir D'alene could debut on the track.
