Dunboyne advance in Leinster Club SFC

Meath SFC champions Dunboyne made a good start on their return to the Leinster Club SFC with a merited 1-12 to 1-2 win over Wexford champions and hosts Shelmaliers today at Wexford Park.

Donal Lenihan had Dunboyne on the scorebaord with the first of his two first-half points as the Meath champions established a 0-10 to 1-1 interval lead.

Lenihan was denied a goal late in the half and the Wexford men countered quickly to claim a goal at the other end from Ross Banville and that took the bare look off the scoreboard.

Robbie McCarthy (four), Stuart Lowndes (tw0), Shane McEntee and Mickey Dunne accounted for the other Dunboyne points in the opening half.

Dunboyne managed a point apiece from Cathal Finn and Lenihan (free) after the resumption with Cathal Lacey finding the net four minutes from time.

Shelamliers finished with 14 men after a red card in the 42nd minute and that didn't help their cause, but they only managed a Brian Malone in that secnd half.
