Dunboyne recover in second half to win MFC Div 3

Goals were crucial as Dunboyne recovered from a five-point interval deficit to win the MFC Div 3 final by 2-13 to 2-9 against Moynalty / Carnaross today.

Those Dunboyne goals arrived in a two-minute seasond-half blitz that left Moynalty / Carnartoss reeling late in the game and they could find no way back.

Sean O'Rourke also sent over seven points in the second-half that were equally important, but it was a disappointing fade-out for Moynalty / Carnaross who were in a dominant position at half-time and just surrendered the initiative quite tamely.

A slow-burning first-half saw Moynalty / Carnaross gradually take control against the wind and they
established a 2-4 to 0-5 interval advantage.

Two goals in as many minutes late in the half gave them a platform for dominance as Bryan McCormack and
Cormac Yore finished to the net.

The points were added throughout the opening 30 minutes from a McCormacjk brace (one free), Cormac Yore (free) and Shane Yore.

Between them the sides tallied nine wides with Dunboyne slightly more wasteful as they managed three Sean O'Rourke points (two frees) and one each by Jack Hayes and Robert Mitham.

However, that second-half revival was a fitting reward for a solid Dunboyne effort.
