Johnstown residents don't want their area festooned with posters like Navan was during the 8th Amendment campaign

No election posters in Johnstown, please!

Johnstown Tidy Towns is to write to all presidential election candidates asking them not to erect their election posters in the area.
Following a discussion, the committee members came to a unanimous decision to write to all candidates urging them not to hang posters in the Johnstown Community.

In an email sent to President Michael D Higgins, Alan Lawes, chairperson of Johnstown Tidy Towns said they felt the posters “are unnecessary, environmentally damaging, visually overpowering and being honest, a complete waste of money”.
Johnstown gained an extra 12 points in this year's national tidy towns bringing its 2018 score to 213, in only its second outing in the competition.

In recent days, presidential election posters have begun appearing in Navan town as campaigns kick off in earnest.
