Get in the Groove at Kilruddery

Competitive energy provider Energia will unveil the ‘Energia Labs’ at Groove 2018, at Kilruddery House in Bray, home of the Brabazon family, Earls of Meath. For the first time, festival goers, young and old will experience the science behind where energy comes from through experiments and theatrics.

Set in the laboratory of an eccentric physicist, the work of the labs will focus on Brain Power with fun and engaging activities for young and old, including energy experiments, demonstrations and workshops. The Labs will also look at the use of Muscle Power with opportunities for attendees to use their muscles to generate energy.

The annual Groove Festival in Wicklow on 7th and 8th July will feature headliners Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Heather Small of M People, along with other notable acts such as HamsandwicH, Something Happens, The Stunning, Jerry Fish, Kíla, The Riptide Movement and Bitch Falcon to name but a few.  With something for everyone, this year for the first time ever, there will be a Comedy Live Lounge featuring interviews and acoustic sets. Also, for the first time, ‘Little Groovers’ will be able to experience a ‘World of Magical Mystery’, and outdoor ‘Hell and Back’ pop up activities.

Enda Doherty of Energia commented: “We’re delighted to once again support Groove, an event that is growing year on year. In 2017, we showcased our commitment to sustainable energy, winning “Best Entertainment Event Sponsorship” at the Irish Sponsorship Awards and this year we are building on this theme via the unveiling of our ‘Energia Labs’. The labs will offer individual and family Groove goers the opportunity to learn about electricity and its importance in an exciting interactive manner. “

“With activities for all, our main lab will feature ‘always on’ demos throughout the day as well as workshops. Those visitors looking for a physical challenge will also have the opportunity to ‘Race Against Homelessness’. Our energy generating pushbikes will be powering a super Scalextric miniature race track and we’re encouraging festival goers to come down and give it a try during Groove, they can even win prizes whilst helping Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) raise some funds.”
