Champs open with a win

Defending SFC champions Simonstown Gaels opened their bid for three in-a-row with an impressive 4-10 to 0-12 victory over Dunshaughlin at Pairc Tailteann today.

It was a positive start under new manager Ciaran Kenny who has stepped into the role from selector and had to pleased with the victory.

The opening half was tight and Simonstown took a slender 1-8 to 0-8 interval lead with Shane Barry finding the net.

Three early second-half goals seled the verdict in favout of Simonstown as Nathan O'Brien, Mark McCabe and Padraig McKeever all found the net and effectively finished the game as a contest.

For Dunshaughlin's Ray Maloney it was a special occasion as it was his 105th SFC game for the club.

At Skryne today Wolfe Tones opened their SFC campaign with a 3-10 to 0-16 victory against Moynalvey, the Tones were ahead by 2-8 to 0-1 at the interval.

Gaeil Colmcille defeated Summerhill by 2-14 to 0-12 and Navan O'Mahonys beat Na Fianna by 4-14 to 1-7.

This evening other SFC game - Dunboyne v Blackhall Gaels has been moved to Ashbourne for 7.30pm as Dunshaughlin was unplayable.
