Skryne claim bragging rights

After going through their 2017 campaign without a win Skryne maintained their impressive start to 2018 with a convincing 1-14 to 0-10 SFC victory over neighbours Curraha in Pairc Tailteann tonight.

Newcomers Curraha were stunned by Skryne's blistering start which saw them open up a 0-3 to 0-0 lead inside two minutes and by the early stages of the second quarter that lead was extended to 1-4 to 0-2 with Bryan Davis bagging the goal.

Despite kicking nine first-half wides Skryne led by 1-7 to 0-3 at the break and at that stage they looked comfortable.

Curraha did threaten to make a game of it after the resumption with four of the first five points in the second-half, but Paddy O'Rourke settled Skryne with a string of fine scores from frees and from play to seal the win.

Scorers: Skryne – Paddy O'Rourke 0-7 five frees; Bryan Davis 1-1; Eoin Smyth 0-2; David McGoldrick, Conor O'Brien, Mark Battersby, Darragh Campion 0-1 each; Curraha – Conor Moriarty 0-5 frees; David Coyle 0-2; David Toner, James McEntee, Andrew Battersby 0-1 each.
