Meath ladies advance in Leinster IFC

The reward for Meath is an opportunity for manager Eamonn Murray to experiment a little bit next Sunday when Wexford visit Dunshaughloin for the second game in the round robin three-team group.

The top two teams qualify and that will be Meath and next Sunday's opponents Wexford who thrashed Wicklow last week.

Meath were never under any pressure as they eased into a substantial 4-3 to 0-4 interval lead despite playing against the wind.  Central to their dominance was the performance of Vikki Wall at centre-back.

Stacey Grimes scored two of Meath's first-half goals, one from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, while Fiona O'Neill and Emma White also found the net.

Grimes, Marion Farrelly and Emma Troy added the points while Wicklow had to rely on the free-taking ability of Laura Hogan (three) and Niamh McGettigan to show some form of resistance.

McGettigan converted six frees for Wicklow in the second-half while Meath added a brace of Grimes goals and points from O'Neill (three) and Megan Thynne
