Shane Cassells (Fianna Fail)

Shane Cassells (37) is married to Fiona Healy and they have three young children: Clodagh-Jane (6), Noah (4) and Bobby (2).
He comes from a family deeply connected with Meath GAA, the national trade union movement and community life. A journalist by profession, he works with publishing house Devlin Media on flagship titles such as Silicon Valley Global Magazine.
A member of Meath County Council since 2004, Cllr Cassells has served as Mayor of Navan twice and has helped deliver key projects like a new theatre and arts centre, new public parks, local schools, investment in roads and establishment of music and cultural festivals.
He says the job of a TD at national level requires the same level of dedication and someone who can deliver for Meath West. His local issues include employment, broadband for all areas, tourism, tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, undergrounding of EirGrid pylons and investment in facilities for young families and elderly.
National issues include abolishing the USC, creating innovation hubs for entrepreneurs, tax credits to ease childcare costs, tackling the social housing crisis and securing the future of Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan.
