Bressie finally gets some Voice acts

Week two of the Blind Auditions and 12 more contestants performed for the coaches. Eight acts go through to the Battles. This week the Bressie finally gets two acts for his team, Rachel has upped her game in the pitches and Una is cleaning up with nearly half her team filled.

Recently engaged Mags White from Cobh (34) has dreamed of being a professional singer all her life but now, she is a pastry chef singing with her fiancé’s band at weekends. To get her ready for the performance, she even made an edible microphone to impress the judges singing Standing in the Way of Control. And impress she does with a 3 coach (Rachel, Una and Kian) turn.

Bressie: ‘She’s just missing that punch at the chorus’.

Kian: ‘It was just a simple case of, this girl is rocking this song’.

Una: ‘Definitely one of the best voices I’ve heard in the contest so far’.

Mags joins Team Una.

No stranger to the camera, Kristyna Hayes (25) from Dublin, who appeared on the TV show ‘The Unemployables’ applied for the Voice of Ireland before but was never successful enough to get through to the blind auditions until this year. She now has a job and has lost 2 stone. Unfortunately her rendition of Dancing in the Dark is not enough to see her through to the next round.

Bressie: ‘I probably feel that I’ve probably let you get away. We do make mistakes.

Pauric O’Meara (21) from Borrisokane in Co. Tipperary entertains the masses in the foyer with his drumming but he’s going to do his own version of Irish disco chart hit Maniac 2000. This acoustic version is good enough to impress even Rachel who doesn’t know the song.

Kian: To do Maniac like that…it’s a very clever song choice you did it very well.

Una: I loved that, you have such a unique voice. If you pick me I will let you sing your won songs

Bressie: the Tipp thing and the flirting thing (speaking about Una) ‘You’re clever, you’re willing to take risks. You’ve a voice that is similar to one of my favourite male vocalists Danny O’Reilly of the Coronas, you nailed it, well done’.

Rachel: you have a distinctive quality the girls are gonna love you

Has thought about going on show for three years and joins Team Bressie

Mother of two Miranda Trouabal from Dublin(29) says that the Voice of Ireland is one of those things she should’ve done but never got around to as she was a very young mother, spending years singing into her hairbrush or baby’s bottle. Singing My Baby Just Cares For Me by Nina Simone she takes to a stage for the first time in her life to try and impress the coaches.

Kian: it didn’t grab me enough

Bressie: you do have a talent to go on

Emmie Reek (27) is a drag queen from Brazil. She came to Ireland to study English and fell in love. Her version of Adele’s One and Only blows all four coaches away and a battles ensues to win her for their teams. She now faces a double dilemma – which coach to choose and now that she is through to the Battles, whether to postpone her wedding. She decides to join Team Una and will now be getting married this year!

Kian: Your voice is spectacular, it was a joy to listen to, and then to turn around and see you.

Una: You are fabulous in every way. It so smooth and beautiful you are a star.

Bressie: I love self expression you are a really strong singer.

Emmie joins Team Una.

Megan Quinn (20) from County Donegal made the trip down from Killybegs in hope of being the coaches’ next big catch! As a big Westlife fan, she’s hoping Kian will turn his chair for her. Unfortunately her acoustic version of Faces Ooh La La does not impress the coaches.

Kian: ‘I just feel like maybe you’re not ready for this competition yet. You’re still a fantastic singer, if you went away and worked on it for the year with a vocal coach you could blow us away next year’

Another Donegal lass, Nerissa Moore (23) splits her time between modelling and working in a jewellery shop. Modelling has helped her gain confidence for her on stage performance of MGMT’s Electric Feel and Bressie hits his button for her.

Bressie: ‘It’s going to take a lot of work but we’ll do it. Who cares but you’re on my team now, well done!

Emma Houlihan (20) from Middleton in Cork is a big fan of country music and is singing Rachel Platten’s Fight Song and it has been her ambition to audition for the Voice of Ireland for years. Despite Kian urging Rachel to turn, none of the coaches hit the button.

Bressie: ‘I actually really liked it, you’ve a great voice, it’s not my style but I don’t know why someone else didn’t turn’

Rachel: there were some tuning issues.

Busker Luke Ray Lacey (19) from Carlow won over Jenny Greene & Keith Walsh from 2FM to make it through to the blind auditions. Luke hasn’t had an easy up-bringing as both his parents were addicts, at his audition for the first time ever all of his family are together in the same room including his first niece. His mother has recovered and is immensely proud of him especially when two coaches – Kian and Rachel slug it out to win him for their team. Kian and Rachel love his renditions of Ed Sheeran’s I See Fire and fight over their pitches for Luke Ray.

Una: in the chorus you were amazing.

Rachel: that gravel in tour voice, when I turned around I could tell you really want it.

Kian: I am so excited to have turned around for you, you’re the real deal. The passion and intent of that performance. I think you could go really far. Luke decides to join Team Kian

Student Caoimhe McCarthy (23) from Mullingar has always been a big fan of music and is using the Voice of Ireland to get music back in to the forefront of her life. With her rendition Flashlight by Jessie J she impresses Rachel who doesn’t take long to hit her button.

Bressie: it was really good, I can get a lift home with you after!

Rachel: I thought it was beautiful I am SO excited you are on my team.

Rachel promises to look after the fellow Mullingar resident for Bressie!

Fiona Garvey (19) from Skerries, Co. Dublin was born in Chicago but has been brought up in Ireland since the age of three. Her Mum is praying that Bressie will turn around, but it’s our 2 female coaches who are impressed with her performance of Pink’s Try .

Rachel: ‘Do you know what made me turn for you? It was a bit shakey in places but there was a moment when you said ‘I’m going to fight for this, I want it’.

Una: You held onto your Irish accent, you delivered hard song very well, As Una and Rachel fight it out for a new team member, Fiona choses Team Una.

When Andrew Berry (19) from Wexford received a phone call to attend the blind auditions of the Voice of Ireland he was baffled as he didn’t actually apply himself – his father did without telling him! With the backing of his family and many people saying he has a unique voice he performs Dancing in the Dark from Robyn. At the very last second Kian Egan turned his chair much to the relief of Andrew.

Rachel said ‘I’m really happy you’re on Team Kian. You’ve a really unique voice and a great sound’.]

Kian Your opening verse was shaky but once your tone opened up I knew this is a really interesting singer.
