Rennicks lands six of the best

Darragh Rennicks claimed a sixth successive Meath Cross-Country Championship crown at Bohermeen today, while Dunboyne’s Sara Treacy returned from England to lift the ladies title.
Rennicks remarkable achievement sees him equal Mick Priest’s record of six cross-country title in-a-row, but it was the ease of the Bohermeen man’s performance that was most impressive as he led from pillar to post and finished over 50 seconds clear of nearest rival Rory Kavanagh from Dunboyne in second with Star of the Sea’s Eoin Callaghan back in third.
Treacy, who hopes to go to the Olympic Games in Rio next summer, coasted to the Ladies crown with 51 seconds to spare over the fast finishing Shauna Moran from Dunshaughlin.
Treacy hardly had to break a sweat when coasting to the win, but the real battle took place behind her as Moran finished brilliantly to take second ahead of Dunboyne’s Eva McNelis.
