Ispca appeal for homes after greyhounds seized in meath

The ISPCA is appealing for homes for a number of greyhound dogs in its care, which were rescued recently in County Meath.

Working with the Irish Greyhound Board and local dog warden, the ISPCA recently removed 19 greyhounds from a hoarding situation in the county. While all dogs were of good body weight, they were kept in very poor conditions and some were suffering from mange and had overgrown nails.

Some of the dogs went to other rescue groups; however, seven are patiently waiting at the ISPCA National Animal Centre for a second chance of a happy new home.

ISPCA chief inspector Conor Dowling said: “Too many people just don’t realise what good pets greyhounds make. They do not require large amounts of exercise, they don’t shed much hair, and the vast majority are great with children and even with smaller animals.'

The ISPCA is asking anyone who can offer one of these dogs a permanent new home to contact the ISPCA National Animal Centre on (043) 332 5035 or email rehoming@ispca.ie
