Mcgrath in final in tbilisi

Meath athlete Kevin McGrath (Bohermeen AC) was in action today at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi in Georgia and has made it into the final of the 1,500 metres with a third place finish in qualifying.

McGrath has already run 3m:50.33s for the 1,500 metres this year in London against some top class opposition and last week he was a member of the Irish team at Schools International Athletic Board event in Scotland where he won gold in the 800m.

Today in Georgia, McGrath comfortably placed third in his heat and goes through as an automatic qualifier.

He finished third 4m:06s behind the winner from Serbia who crossed the line in 4m:03s and an athlete from Switzerland.

The final will take place on Wednesday.
