Meath win well in loughrea

Emily Mangan was in fine form between the posts for Meath in yesterday's win in Loughrea. Meath will play Wexford next week with a place in the All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship semi-final at stake.

Meath recorded a 3-14 to 2-11 victory yesterday that ended Galway’s championship aspirations with two vital Jane Dolan goals in the early stages.

With Aoife Minogue in fine from from placed balls Meath had a seven-point advantage at the break which they extended to eight soon after the resumption.

Cliodhna Walsh netted for Galway, but Minogue kept Meath ticking over when she brought her tally to nine points.

Galway would not lie down though and Niamh Murphy appeared to get the final touch for a goal to put the game back into the melting pot.

Meath stretched it to four once more before a Galway penalty was deflected over by Meath goalkeeper Emily Mangan.

From the next attack Galway's Siobhan Skehill made a stunning save, but Dolan poked home the rebound to complete her hat-trick.

Meath will host Wexford next weekend.
