Christmas toy show opening at rds

Barbie and the Fat Controller from Thomas and Friends have been announced as the special guest stars for the opening weekend of the Christmas Toy Show at the RDS.

Fashion icon Barbie will be meeting and greeting her fans live from 11am onwards on Saturday and Sunday, while the Fat Controller Sir Topham Hatt will be at the Show on Sunday.

“This event will give children, and their parents, a peak into the world of their idols as they pose for pictures and chat to their fans,” said Patrick O’Sullivan from the Christmas Toy Show, which runs for nine days from Saturday Nov 22-30.

“It is a chance to see two genuine legends in toys who have appealed to children for over half a century, in what is a great family day out.

“There will also be a giant photo wall at the Show where you can get your picture taken with all of your favourite cartoon characters including Elsa and the Minions.”

The Christmas Toy Show at the RDS will see families experience Christmas magic with fun, games, and activities for all ages and tons of live entertainment and music, not to mention Ireland’s best Santa Experience.

The Show will feature a full timetable of entertainment on the main stage with singing and dancing acts, including the top-rated teenage band Fresh Ré, kids discos, dance-offs, magicians, puppet shows and a host of appearances from your favourite toy characters.

Full details of the entertainment programme are available on www.christmastoyshow.ie.

The Show will feature all the toys you need for Christmas under one roof, from this year’s must-haves to those all-important stocking fillers, and the Christmas Toy Show’s Elves will be on hand with lots of clever ways of getting presents from the RDS to where they need to go.

There will be a host of interactive family fun from two giant ride-on tractor-racing tracks (suitable for different ages) and remote control challenges to Nerf and Rebelle target ranges, storytime areas, football challenges, Play Doh Workshops and much more.

The Christmas Toy Show features Ireland’s most amazing Santa experience, including a train ride through his magical kingdom. There will be timed admission tickets which can be purchased in advance through www.christmastoyshow.ie.

The Christmas Toy Show will get under way with a 90-minute live spectacular on TV3, hosted by Bryan McFadden, Karen Koster and Jedward on Friday November 21 at 8pm.

Admission to the nine-day Christmas Toy Show at the RDS is €6, with family tickets for five people at €25 and children two and under admitted free. Visits to Santa Claus are €15 (including children two and under) with accompanying adults free. Advance tickets are available at €12 from www.christmastoyshow.ie.
