Ballinlough book place in ifc final and end long wait

Ballinlough ensured their place in the IFC final for the first time in 23 years when they defeated Castletown 2-14 to 2-12 at Pairc Tailteann this evening.

Both sides served up a thrilling encounter with Ballinlough just about doing enough to win thanks partly to goals from Tommy McCullen and Peadar Byrne.

Tom Shine's side led 2-7 to 2-6 at the interval and midway through the second-half they were in front by 2-13 to 2-6.

However Castletown staged a rousing comeback to keep the big attendance enthralled but they ran out of time.

Castletown also hit 10 wides compared to just four from their more opportunisitic opponents.

The Castletown goals were scored by Kenneth Smith and Darren Finney and the manner in which those goals were created and executed also contributed to a highly entertaining encounter.
