Meath girls feature in win over Croatia

Naoisha McAloon from Ratoath College was one of thee Meath students that helped the Republic of Ireland Schools girls’ team to a 2-1 victory in the Bob Docherty Cup against Croatia at Repton in England yesterday evening.

Katie Burdis from Coláiste na hInse, Bettystown and Chloe McNamee from St Oliver’s PP, Oldcastle were also included in the starting line up.

The winning goal was scored by Cavan girl Leanne Kiernan from Bailieborough Community School.

Leanne was introduced as a substitute during a game that produced lots of good football from the Irish girls.

The victory gave the Irish girls a top of the the table finish and, more importantly, a place in the final that will be played tomorrow (Thursday) against the winner of the other group that comprises England, Scotland and Wales.
