Great excitement at Primary Schools finals again

The second day of the Meath Primary Schools finals took place at Pairc Tailteann in Navan today and once again the games produced plenty of excitement along with the usual scenes of celebrations and disappointment following each game.

(see short video of Kildalkey players on their way for the presentation)

GIRLS
St Dympna’s, Kildalkey were best in the Girls Div 2 decider as they out-scored Scoil Eanna, Navan by 5-8 to 2-4. Lauren Geraghty, daughter of former Meath star Graham, was the star of the show for the winners and she was well supported by Holly Reynolds and Debbie McMahon as well as defenders Amy McKenna and Holly Duignam

Yellow Furze took the honours in the Girls Div 3 final with a 5-4 to 3-2 victory over Stackallen. Yellow Furze had lost to Stackallen in the group stages of the competition, but with Mallaidh Breen bagging a hat-trick of goals they never looked like losing this exciting contest.

Moylagh claimed the Girls Div 5 title with a late point from Sarah Smith that was sufficient to secure a sensational 3-4 to 3-3 victory against a talented Newtown NS side.

BOYS

Gaelscoil na Bóinne edged out Skryne in the Boys’ Div 3 decider as they held on for a dramatic 2-6 to 2-5 victory. James O Foghlu kicked the winning point, but he wasn’t the only hero as Gaelscoil Na Boinne claimed their first Meath Primary Schools football crown with a Boys Div 3 victory over Skryne.

St Ciaran’s NS, Castlejordan took the trophy back to their school with a tremendous performance against Dangan NS as they won by 2-14 to 3-4 in what was a superb game of football with both teams packed with talented players.

There was more success for the Drumbaragh side of the Kells parish when the Boys’ Div 5 title was retained in a entertaining tie against Scoil Ultain Naofa, Baile Ghib by 4-9 to 2-1.

See the next edition of the Meath Chronicle out on Tuesday night for reports team photographs and presentations along with lots of action photos.
