Cillian Farrell back as Meath hurling manager

The identity of the newly-appointed Meath hurling manager was unveiled last night with Cillian Farrell back in the role six months after he vacted the position following a Christy Ring Cup semi-final defeat by Down at Ballycran.

Meath lost that semi-final replay by 1-10 to 0-23 and will face Down again in 2014 in the opening round of the Christy Ring Cup on Saturday 3rd May - the game will be at a Meath venue, probably Trim.

Farrell was appointed for a two-year team when he took the reins initially and he was reluctant to step down from the position last June, but did so due to personal circumstances.

Meath's first game in 2014 will be a Kehoe Cup outing against St Patrick's on Sunday 19th January.

Meath players will return to training this week.
