Footballer-of-the-year Brian Meade was announced tonight.

Award for Brian Meade

Sidelined Meath and Rathkenny player Brian Meade received a boost to his rehabilitation efforts when he was declared 2013 footballer-of-the-year at tonight's Co Board meeting at Aras Tailteann, Navan.

Meade enjoyed a great year at midfield for Meath as Mick O'Dowd's team achieved promotion to the NFL Div 2 after qualifying for the Croke Park final against Monaghan.

Meade was also a crucial performer for his club, Rathkenny, as they enjoyed a good run in the Meath SFC, but he sustained an injury against Skryne that finished his involvement in football for the year.

Moynalvey's Padraic Harnan took the young footballer-of-the-year while in the hurling the accolade went to Jack Fagan.

Damien Healy took the hurler-of-the-year award while in the other categories, the ground-of-the year was awarded to St Patrick's and club of the year to Na Fianna.

Patrick Nelis was announced as the refereeof-the-year.
