Major cannabis herb haul in Oldcastle
Cannabis herb with an estimated street value of 2.4 million euro has been seized in Oldcastle by Gardaí who arrested two men.
As a result of a joint investigation involving the Garda National Drug Unit, the Garda Organised Crime Unit, and Customs Drug Enforcement Officers, a search was carried out at an address in Oldcastle on Saturday.
Some 120kgs of cannabis herb was located. Two men, one aged 50 years and the other 31 years were arrested at the scene.
Both men are currently detained at Kells Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 and the operation is ongoing.
