Simonstown Gaels revived their SFC title hopes with an emphatic 1-17 to 2-5 victory over previously unbeaten Wolfe Tones at Brews Hill this evening where Niall McLoughlin was removed to hospital by ambulance and Shane O'Rourke returned to action.

The Tones player sustained a neck injury just ahead of the full-time whistle which delayed the official end of the game.

The Tones man received attention while his colleagues waited with him as he lay prone on the pitch.

Arising out of the incident referee Padraig Coyle issued yellow cards to Shane O'Roukre of Simonstown and Stephen Corrigan of Wolfe Tones (a second yellow).

The ambulance arrived promptly in a matter of minutes and the player was eventually taken away.

The game itself was a fairly one-sided affair with Simonstown always in control although the Tones were without Eoghan Harrington who may also be sidelined for the Meath game against Wicklow due to injury.

Simonstown were ahead by 1-10 to 1-3 at the interval as Shane Barry and Cian Ward (penalty) traded goals.

Fiachra Ward claimed a second-half goal for the Tones, but all it did was add some respectability to the scoreboard as Simonstown completely dominated and welcomed Shane O'Rourke back for the final quarter.

Summerhill got their first win by 1-11 to 0-9 against Oldcastle and were ahead by 1-5 to 0-5 at the break with Barry Dardis finding the net.

Michael Gorman for Summerhill and Terry Farrelly for Oldcastle were both red-carded in the same second-half incident.

At Ashbourne Skryne proved to strong for St Patrick's and won by 0-11 to 1-6 after leading by 0-6 to 1-2 at the break.
