Athboy for Leinster League Div 3 next season

Athboy RFC will become the newest members of the Leinster League Div 3 next season when the new campiagn begins in a few months time.
 
The club is now looking to recruit new playes as they also aim to field a second team in the McGee Cup.
 
Club officials are delighted to have retained the services of head coach Len Ethell.
 
This will be his second year at Athboy RFC and has worked extremely hard with player development last season.
 
'His direct coaching at a high standard has encouraged new and old players to return playing at Athboy RFC and with his continued involvement in the club this season we hope more players will take up this rugby challenge,' commented Athboy RFC official Michael Brogan.
 
'Len  has  spent most of his coaching career at Mullingar RFC where he had been involved in under-age sides as well as the clubs first and second teams, his first involvement in coaching at adult level was as assistant to current Ireland Head Coach Joe Schmidt during his time as Mullingar’s head coach.
 
'Len has also been Director of Coaching at Portarlington RFC, Senior Coach & Head of Coaching at Wilson's Hospital School and spent a season as Technical Director and National Team Coach of the Malta Rugby Football Union.
 
'The New Zealander spent his playing career at scrum half for clubs like Marist Auckland and Ponsonby and at The St Helier Club in the UK, has IRFU Levels 1, 2, 3 Coaching qualifications as well as a Diploma in Sports Psychology,' added Brogan.
 
Athboy's players come from large areas in Meath, Westmeath and Dublin and locally includes Trim, Ballivor, Kildalkey, Mullingar, Navan, Clonmellon and Longwood.
 
The senior panel will commence pre-season training in the last week of July.
 
The Club has entered the Leinster League Division 3 (J1 Rugby) and North East’s McGee Cup (J3 Rugby). Details on training times will be posted on Facebook,webpage,twitter and in local media.
