Ciaran wins a 'Big Welcome'

Celebrations are underway in Meath tonight, as Ciarán Dunne from Athboy was announced as the first winner of Dublin Airport Authority’s (DAA) biggest ever competition “The Big Welcome.” As part of Dublin and Cork Airports’ support of The Gathering Year 2013, the competition offers five lucky winners across Ireland the incredible opportunity to fly friends or family home from anywhere in the world and to enjoy a week’s holiday in a unique Irish heritage property.

DAA’s media partner for The Big Welcome, TV3, deemed it the station’s most successful ever competition with almost 7,000 entries.

Ciarán can nominate his six guests to receive return tickets to Ireland during 2013. Once the lucky group receives its big welcome at Dublin Airport, Ciarán’s guests will go on to spend a week in Clomantagh Castle, a beautiful heritage property owned by the Irish Landmark Trust.

A €5,000 voucher for irishhotels.com is included in the prize for the group to extend its stay, and to top it all off, complimentary car hire is included for two weeks so that everybody can make the most of their once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Maurice Hennessy, DAA, Director Commercial said, “We are very happy to support such a great initiative as The Gathering and extend our congratulations to Ciarán. Dublin and Cork Airports are, after all, key gateways to Ireland so this initiative was about providing the opportunity for people across the country to be reunited with friends and family, for their own unique Gathering.”

When asked who he plans to invite home for the celebrations, Ciarán said, “I’m bringing home family from Australia in August, I’m really looking forward to it. It’s extra special for me as it will be just in time for my 50th Birthday celebrations.”
